What is KSU Flashathon?
KSU Flashathon is a student-run philanthropy that hosts an annual 8-Hour Dance Marathon at Kent State University in the spring. We are a Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon, benefiting our local hospital, Akron Children's Hospital. The 9th Annual Dance Marathon will take place on March 6th, 2021 at the Kent State University. We will unite students of Kent State University, medical professionals, and the children and families of Akron Children’s Hospital for a day of dancing and miracles. Click here to learn more.
Where is KSU Flashathon?
Flashathon is held at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Registration is located in the main lobby. Our main stage is located on the far basketball courts with other activities being held in the multi-purpose gym as well as the racquetball rooms.
do i have to dance?
Although highly encourage, no. While you do register for the event as a Dancer, there are many other activities going on during the 12 hours besides dancing. You can participate in dodge ball, soccer, and corn hole, along with several other sports, hang out with the Miracle Kids, or check out our raffles, reflection room, and photo booths. And you might even catch the dancing bug and want to join in with the hundreds of students (of all skill levels) dancing for the kids!
What are the ways to get involved with flashathon?
If you would like to fundraise for the kids and attend the 8-Hour Dance Marathon, then registering as a Dancer is for you! To learn more about becoming a Dancer, click here. Do i have to be a Kent State university student to attend the event?
No! We welcome individuals of all ages and areas to unite with us in the fight against childhood cancer.
Where does the money raised go?
100% of donations fundraised directly benefit the Shower's Family Medical Center, which is the Hematology/Oncology Unit at our local children's hospital, Akron Children's Hospital. Click here to learn more.
How do i register for the event?
To register for the event follow this link. Once there, you will register as an individual, join a team, or create a team. After following the additional steps, you will receive an email with your personal DonorDrive Link. Use this to start fundraising for the kids!
is there a registration fee?
Yes. The registration fee is $10, but you can register for only $5 if you use the promo code KSUCHD when you register on October 5th, 2020. The registration fee is not included into your total fundraising goal and does not count towards your fundraising commitment; however, the fee goes straight to the kids at Akron Children's Hospital.
do i have to fundraise a minimum amount?
Yes. By registering for the event, every dancer agrees to a Fundraising Commitment of $50 in order to gain full access to the event. But, don't worry! We give you all the resources you need to hit your commitment. And once you hit the $50 commitment, you can keep fundraising to hit some of our awesome incentive levels.

How do i share my donor drive on social media?
Social media is a great way to get donations! Once you register for the Dance Marathon on DonorDrive, you will be sent an email with your personal DonorDrive URL. Copy and paste this URL to your social media accounts sharing what being FTk truly means to you and start watching the money for the kids come in!

Canning is a method of fundraising for KSU Flashathon. You stand in high-traffic areas of campus with a KSU Flashathon bucket and talk to people about the event while collecting donations. It is a great way to spread the message of Miracle Network Dance Marathon while fundraising!
Donordrive
DonorDrive is an online fundraising platform where you register for KSU Flashathon as well as set fundraising goals, track how much you have raised, and recruit members for your team.
miracle points
When you register for KSU Flashathon, you will be assigned to a Color Crew. Each Color Crew competes throughout the year and at the Dance Marathon to earn Miracle Points. You can earn Miracle Points several ways. Click here to learn how. During the final hour of the Dance Marathon, the Color Crew with the most Miracle Points will win the coveted Miracle Cup, as well as a year worth of bragging rights. Currently, Pink Crew holds the title from Flashathon 2018!

Dine-to-Donates are a method of fundraising where KSU Flashathon receives a percentage of the proceeds a restaurant earns over the course of a night. We host Dine-to-Donate events throughout the year at different restaurants in the Kent and Stow areas.
